What’s New for the 2026 Terrain?

This year, the GMC Terrain is adding not one but two new trims to its lineup: the off-road-ready AT4 and the high-end Denali. The new 2026 GMC Terrain Denali will be the highest-trim option, with all the bells and whistles to turn your Terrain into an on-the-go oasis.

The Denali features will include heated rear seats, 19-inch wheels, and a tuned suspension for maximum comfort.

As for the off-road AT4, prepare yourself for some extra height, all-terrain tires, underbody protection, and red front recovery hooks.

Performance with Purpose: A Closer Look Under the Hood

One-size-fits-all when it comes to the Terrain’s engine. Equipped with a turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder, the Terrain delivers a respectable 175 horsepower. Models will be front-wheel-drive or all-wheel-drive, with the former paired with a continuously variable automatic transmission and the latter with an eight-speed automatic transmission.

Smooth handling and a stable drive are virtues the GMC Terrain knows well, and each trim delivers something unique for the driver. However, rest assured that with each model, you’ll have more time to enjoy the journey and fewer stops at the gas station.

The Terrain Elevation delivers an EPA-estimated range of 26 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway for the front-wheel-drive model. If you opt for all-wheel drive, expect only 24 mpg in the city. As for the Denali and AT4 trims, the EPA estimates 24 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway.

2026 GMC Terrain Interior & Tech

The Terrain’s interior merges the rugged with the refined, offering high-end amenities with a little attitude.

The two-row SUV delivers comfort and cushion for up to five passengers, and the available panoramic sunroof offers beautiful views of the outside to help you feel the touch of nature on the go. The Terrain’s interior, however, depends on the trim. With the built-for-every-terrain 2026 GMC Terrain AT4 and the high-end Denali, each trim will offer unique interior touches befitting their characters.

And what’s an SUV without space-saving features? With 60/40 split-folding rear seats, an underfloor storage compartment, and center console pass-through storage, the GMC Terrain is ready to move with everything you need and everything you want.

While the Terrain’s spacious interior and lush cabin are worth boasting about, the real talk of the moment is the modern technology found within the cabin.

Taking up much of the dashboard space is the 15-inch infotainment touchscreen that comes standard across the lineup. With the latest Google-based interface, you’ll be able to download the apps you need to keep your drives running effortlessly. The models also come equipped with an 11-inch digital gauge display, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility–not to mention heated seats, a heated steering wheel, and remote start.
